In our previous episodes, we discussed brand marketing and creating a positive view of the brand for the customers. Establishing that positive standpoint requires trust and established credibility. In today's episode, we have Jemimah Ashleigh of The Visibility Lab to help us unbundle important topics about establishing trust and credibility through media and other methods.
What is the actual value you've seen that's been built out of creating a personal brand?
A mistake most make is trying desperately to fit into other people's personal brands. They want to be like those popular influencers, which is the opposite of a personal brand. A personal brand is precisely being who you are and leveraging your authenticity of that.
It is about promoting your authentic self, who you really are and what you are passionate about. Packaging it correctly has so many avenues, but it all comes down to the language you go. You kind of audit yourself and ask, what do I want to be, what do I want to be known for? It goes back to the question, what problem do you solve, and who do you solve that problem for?
How do I manage my personal brand and my corporate brand? Do I keep them the same or separate? What is the risk of bringing them together?
Remember to stop trying just to promote your business. You have to promote yourself as well. You would have to work on various businesses before you can start earning huge profits, but that will still depend on how you build your credibility.
Your product will be associated with you, and how you promote yourself will reveal much more about your brand. If you work on your brand personality and invest not just money, you will be able to tell its story and how it evolved. You have the full knowledge of how this works, which you can share with the world, and your confidence in your product will make people believe that it is indeed what it is you are saying it is.
As you build your product or brand, you tell your story, and the people know your journey. You share the development of your brand but not only the product but yourself as well. This builds your credibility along the way.
Even with PR's benefits and positive outputs, where does it go wrong?
The common reason why people fail is because of a couple of things. One, they think it's much more complex than it needs to be. Two, they fail to recognize where they need to be seen. Focus on your market. Find out what they are reading and do blogs about those topics. Discover what podcasts they are on and show interest. You need to be where your ideal clients are. Otherwise, you are just throwing your chances away.
Your brand and your credibility go hand in hand. Remember that the story that evolves around you significantly impacts your brand. Build yourself positively, and the media will help you build your brand based on your credibility.
