Content Marketing | 3 min read
In our previous episodes, we talked about marketing and establishing your presence online. Today, concerning that, we will discuss today’s ways of engaging the public and how to make it grow. With our special guests, TikTok Influencer Lisa Swinbanks and Photographer and Film Producer of Poseidon Films Robbie Merritt, host Bernard Kassab will unbundle the topics relating to content that connects.
What types of content get the highest level of engagement?
Lisa believes that content needs to be entertaining, inspirational or educational, but it also needs to be original and personal to the person who owns the content. Something that would resonate with the audience, not just something that would trend. Having a face and a voice in front of the camera would be something that will be seen as engaging to the people rather than videos you share.
Giving them a side of you that people would know will give them a reason to follow you. Bernard pitched in about some influencers that are being followed not just because of the product or service they are trying to sell but because they are also gravitating towards educating the audience while entertaining them with their content.
Robbie took a different approach and used the many outlets he had. Being a photographer, make-up artist, event promoter and editor, he used his influence to create a following. He made 14 Instagram accounts and managed to link all these accounts using tags. Individually, it managed to haul a considerable following while providing content for each niche it caters to.
How do you commercialize and make a business model that extends a brand's reach using engaging content?
Like LinkedIn recommends, if you want to connect with someone, tag them with the information they would find helpful. Bernard gave this suggestion, not just leaving them expecting they would accidentally find them. Tagging someone with a related interest is an excellent way to expand your reach. This way, people following that person or brand will see your post. If you are into dancing, you can tag music or singers.
You can try to find a newer piece constantly reposting to promote their product. They are also trying to make a name, and their reach can be expanded using the same method. Collaboration is also a good idea. One way to make it work is to find a relation to your use. If you want to create a story out of your video, you can find someone with the music that would fit the scenes.
What do you do when planning your content, and how do you get past a creative block?
Lisa initially signed up and became a group member that actually exchanged ideas on various concerns. Like her, some struggle with what hashtags to use or how to answer different questions. Being a part of that team gave her motivation and ideas. It gave her a kickstart.
Robbie is a lot luckier, considering he has partners reciprocating his acts. When he takes a picture of their products and shares them, they post it on their website, and he gets tagged where all their followers can see.
The bottom line of this episode is that content creation requires a good story to tell. This way, people will be enticed to follow you and be excited about what would be your next post. You should be able to give them a story related to you that is true as well and not just a make-believe craft that will push people away.
