Bite-sized Branding Episode 50 - Special Guest Show

Content Marketing |  3 min read

This episode is an exceptional treat as we give you our 50th episode!! We are joined by influencers in their rightful fields, the beautiful and smart ladies Nikkie Ferriswheel and Maddy May. Today's topic concerns the truth about marketing instead of the myth that it was years ago.

Together with our guests, we will unravel how influencers manage to promote brands and how they choose the brands they represent.

How do you decide on working with a project that approaches you out of the blue? How are you making a decision, and how does influencer marketing works?

As with Nikki, her decision is based on how she likes the product. If a product is sent out to her, she tries it out and gives an honest review of the product. She had a small business in the past, and she understands how difficult putting up a business is.

Her opinions are straightforward, and she does not promote anything that she will not be trying out herself, such as cigarettes. Her mother died because of lung cancer, and she does not smoke. Her opinion towards these products is opposing.

Maddy May, on the other hand, has experienced getting offers from two competing make-up brands. She also bases it on her opinion toward their products though there are instances wherein she is tied in a contract. Thus she cannot work with other brands at all.

She prefers small brands, and she usually works with small labels. Some products that are sent to her can be inappropriate, which she declines to promote. The products that you promote are your brand as an influencer. You need to decide what things to do for a specific brand. As a result, that transfers down to the companies you will endorse and therefore work with.

She prefers small brands mainly because she is working b2b basically. She is endorsing a product she trusts as something she will be endorsing to her followers. Maddy sees herself as a brand and as a business. She may have influence, but she knows that some products may work for her but will not work the same way with others.

What is a good idea, and how do you put these together?

Maddy simply goes AdHoc. The same with Nikki. They work on things that are with them. They dress up ahead before going to casting if they are invited for a product which sometimes is attended by the two influencers at the same time.

How do you manage the audience and do you filter how the audience comments especially trolls?

Nikki considers that she has businesses that she has to think of. Therefore, she treats comments differently, depending on the need. In terms of trolls, she does take time to set the record straight. However, some issues are best left unresponded and ignored.

Maddy is somehow similar though her audience was something she collected over the years she joined pageantry. Some are additions during her travels, and they gradually built up. She does ignore trolls and negative comments and often blocks those individuals.

Influencers or not, being honest and truthful with your views and opinions is the best approach. The responsibility of informing your followers about a particular brand or business is a serious task. But it would be best if you also remembered that different people have different reactions and opinions.
